Congratulations on your new tattoo!

Proper care is crucial for ensuring a smooth healing process and vibrant results. Please follow these aftercare instructions closely.

Caring for Your Tattoo:

1. Protect Your Tattoo Overnight:
  • After getting your tattoo, it’s important to keep it protected for the first night. You may clean the tattoo before bed, but re-bandage it after cleaning and leave it covered overnight.
  • Make sure the dressing is secure but not too tight.
2. Remove the Bandage in the Morning:
  • In the morning, gently remove the bandage. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
  • Clean the tattoo using lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap to remove any blood, ink, or excess plasma. Avoid scrubbing the tattoo; gently cleanse it with your fingertips.
3. Dry the Tattoo:
  • Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or a soft cloth. Avoid rubbing the area, as it could irritate the skin.
4. Apply a Thin Layer of Aftercare Ointment:
  • Once the tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of fragrance-free ointment or tattoo aftercare lotion recommended by your artist.
  • Avoid over-applying ointment, as it can block the skin from breathing and hinder the healing process.
6. Do Not Scratch or Pick at the Tattoo:
  • During the healing period, your tattoo will scab and itch. Resist the urge to scratch or pick at it, as this can cause scarring or color loss.
  • If itching occurs, gently tap the area instead of scratching.
7. Wear Loose Clothing:
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing over the tattooed area to avoid friction and irritation.
8. Avoid Soaking:

For the first 2 weeks, avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or baths. Showers are fine, but try not to soak your tattoo for extended periods.

What to Expect During Healing:

Days 1-3:

Your tattoo may appear red and swollen; this is a normal part of the healing process.

Days 4-7:

The tattoo will begin to scab and flake. Continue to clean and moisturize the area as instructed.

Weeks 2-4:

The scabs will naturally fall off, and the skin will begin to look more vibrant.

4-6 Weeks:

Full healing typically takes 4-6 weeks. Deeper layers of skin may take longer to fully heal.

Signs of Infection to Watch For:

  • Increased redness, swelling, or warmth around the tattoo
  • Unusual discharge or pus
  • Excessive pain or tenderness that doesn't improve after the first few days
If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional immediately.
